Jenny Nettles, MSN, RN

Jenny was born in San Mateo, Florida to 3rd generation cattle ranchers. After meeting her now-husband in 1989, she became hooked on the medical field. Jenny volunteered as a first responder, EMT, and certified FF. This is where she found her love for emergency medicine. Jenny joined HOSA in her sophomore year of high school and received a scholarship to the local technical college for the LPN program. After graduating in 1992 as an LPN, she worked in both Med-Surg and the Labor & Delivery Unit at Putnam Community Medical Center. Later, she took several years off to help her husband with his business.  The family moved to East Tennessee in 1996. While in Tennessee, Jenny worked for a Trauma Surgery group at The University of Tennessee Medical Center. After moving back to Florida in 1999, Jenny returned to Putnam Community Medical Center working on the Step-Down unit, and later in the 18-bed emergency room. This is where Jenny found her niche in emergency medicine, where she worked for nine years.

With corporate changes, Jenny was encouraged to return to school, where she completed the transition from LPN to RN and obtained her ADN. In 2014, Jenny went to work at the much larger Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center ER in Ormond Beach, FL. While working there, she advanced her training and skills completing her BSN. In 2016, Jenny had the urge to travel, taking a travel assignment at Fallon Medical Center in Baker, Montana. While working in Baker, she experienced rural medicine at it’s finest.

Still needing to further her education, Jenny began the MSN program at Western Governors University. Later in 2016, Jenny, her husband, and youngest son moved to Steamboat Springs after her husband received a job with Routt County. After working briefly at Yampa Valley Medical Center in the ICU as a Charge nurse, Jenny came on board at Steamboat Emergency Center as an ER Nurse.

In April 2018, Jenny graduated from WGU with her MSN specializing in Leadership and Management. Jenny received a promotion to Director of Nursing in August of 2018. Ever the student, she is beginning the MBA in Healthcare Management this summer with anticipated graduation summer of 2021. Jenny currently lives in Oak Creek with her husband and two fur children.

She continues to be amazed by the organization she calls work. She counts herself fortunate to have found the owners here at Steamboat Emergency Center not only great physicians but great people. The philosophy instilled by the owner's group is transparency and empowerment for the best patient care possible. “Patients are not numbers to us; they are an individual life that receives individualized care.”
